Free Prostate Cancer Screening Clinic available at Gritman

MOSCOW — Gritman Medical Center will host a free Prostate Cancer Screening Clinic, 1-5 p.m., Sept. 19 in the Palouse Urology visiting clinic space, located on the first floor south lobby of Gritman Medical Center.

Those attending the clinic can provide a blood sample, which will be tested for Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), a common indicator of potential prostate cancer. Afterward, attendees may choose to receive a physical exam to check for possible prostate tumors. People may drop in anytime until the clinic closes at 5 p.m. Attendees will receive their results from the Gritman Laboratory within 1-3 days.

The clinic will be led by Board Certified Urologist Dr. Bryan Smith of Palouse Urology. Dr. Smith provides services at Gritman Medical Center, Pullman Regional Hospital and Whitman Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Smith also treats kidney stones, prostate issues, cancer, incontinence, prolapse, pediatric urology and more.

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men, after lung cancer. Men ages 50 and older are encouraged to attend this wellness event to receive a free prostate cancer screening and exam.

This clinic is free and open to the public thanks to a donation made by the Gritman Foundation.
